GOALS:
​ The WhaleSAFE mission is to promote fun, safe and educational whale watching, and to become the recognized practices for worldwide whale watching.

• Provide an on-the-water presence in whale watch hot spots to provide information to recreational whale watchers regarding Best Practices of whale watching
• ​Distribute educational materials to recreational whale watchers , including kayak and stand-up-paddle board outfits, which currently advertise opportunities to paddle with whales.
• Reach recreational boaters with information about Best Practices of whale watching and safe boating in whale hot spots.
• Create a WhaleSAFE certification program for commercial whale watch operators, to help promote companies that practice safe and sustainable eco-tourism, to include operator training, secret-shopper surveys and feedback from public and researchers.
• Continue outreach with commercial operators, familiarizing them with whale behaviors, current research, and reviewing Best Practices and procedures that will ensure the best experience for their passengers and the whales.
